For the third year in a row, a range of Flemish organisations with a heart for games are pulling their weight to get as much Flemish game developers as possible to the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, taking place next year from March 18th until March 22nd. Preparations for the third edition of Mission San Francisco are in full swing, and there’s more reasons than ever to join us! Please read the following very carefully if you are considering to showcase at GDC19.
First ever Flemish booth at GDC
As previously announced during the BelgianGamesCafe at gamescom, the #FlemishGamesIndustry will have its very own booth (link in Dutch) at the GDC Expo for the first time, set up by the people of Flanders Investment & Trade. Participation costs € 1.500 (ex VAT) (€ 3.000 ex VAT for non-KMO’s) and gets you:
- your own exhibiting space (approx. 4 m²) with a table and two chairs, a shared welcome desk and shared meeting space
- an unlimited supply of (good) coffee and soft drinks
- 5 Expo passes (valued at $ 750), 3 Expo Plus passes (valued at $ 600) and 1 Single Session pass (attend 1 conference session for free)
- a one-time 25% discount on a conference ticket of your choice (please note that conference access is not included)
- access to GDC Connect (online tool) to schedule meetings upfront
- access to BelgianGamesCafe at GDC19
- your company’s name and logo in GDC exhibitor database
- PR activity around GDC19 by FIT and its partners
Exhibiting spaces are extremely limited, so if you want to have the best shot at presenting your products or services during the biggest professional games event in the world for the very generous price of € 1.500 (ex VAT) (€ 3.000 ex VAT for non-KMO’s), you’ll need to act fast and sign up today (link in Dutch).
Free shared booth space for companies not exhibiting
Even when you’re not in a position to have your own exhibiting space on our booth, you might be able to do your thing at the GDC Expo after all. Powered by VAF Gamefund we’re introducing the FLEXZONE, a shared booth space where you can have a quick meeting or pitch your game. You’ll be able to sign up for these spots later.
50% discount for conference tickets
Joining us an exhibitor or not, if you’d love to visit the conference and other cool side activities you will need to get Conference passes. Just like previous years you can enjoy a 10% group discount* on the early bird ticket of your choice (Expo Plus and Expo passes are not eligible for this discount). For example, a Conference & Summits pass will cost you $1,484 instead of $1,649 early bird, $2,049 regular or $2,149 on site.
On top of that, thanks to VAF Gamefund, we’re able to grant an additional 40% discount on early bird conference pass prices to 15 participants, first come first served. More info on how to sign up for this offer is soon to follow.
Automatic application and discount for Courage XL premixer showcase
To kick off GDC19 in the best possible way you should definitely apply for our showcase at the Courage XL premixer showcase, hosted at San Fran nightclub The Great Northern on Sunday evening March 17th. Thanks to our partners, we secured the entire entrance area of the club, applications are automatic (no curation) and Flemish companies get a discount so they only pay € 75 instead of € 105 (ex costs). For that price you’ll get a showcase spot in one of the hottest GDC venues and drink vouchers to offer to people who played your game. Over the years this event has steadily become one of the most popular premixers of GDC. Please apply here for automatic applications and afterwards please pay through Eventbrite, using the password “iamcourageous” and the discount code “ilovebelgianbeer”. Good luck and hope to see you there!
BelgianGamesCafe all over again
Last but not least there will be another unforgettable edition of BelgianGamesCafe planned in a cool place near Moscone, featuring the traditional recipe of Belgian beer, cocktails, exquisite finger food and about twenty times more people than the joint can handle. Expect more details in the coming months!
Refunds for travel & accommodation costs
We’re well aware that the trip across the Atlantic is expensive and that San Francisco isn’t the cheapest place on earth to spend the night, but keep in mind that Flanders Investment & Trade can offer you a refund for 50% of your travel & accommodation costs. Please make sure to fill out the necessary paperwork (link in Dutch) in advance to do so.
We know we say this every time, but it’s clear as day that our third organised trip to San Francisco will prove to be the most exciting one yet. If you’re on the fence about joining Mission San Francisco, please go talk to one of the many participants of previous editions and you’ll soon find yourself on the right side of your dilemma. See you on the other side!
The presence of the #FlemishGamesIndustry at GDC19 wouldn’t be possible without the joint effort of these organisations with a heart for games. Thank you Flanders Investment & Trade, Flanders DC, VAF Gamefund, Department CJSM of Flemish Minister of Media Sven Gatz and Cronos Interactive!
*If we manage to round up a delegation of at least 10 participants.
