Do you know a place where you can hang out with your friends, have some drinks, maybe a quick bite and play some cool video games? And no, the couch in your mancave doesn’t count! We certainly don’t and that’s why we think the concept of our newest FLEGA member Barvatar (link in Dutch) is going to rank high on the leaderboards.
Created by an experienced team of game and event professionals, Barvatar isn’t just a bar where you can play some games. It promises to become the number one video game lifestyle hotspot. The main difference between existing venues is they don’t exclusively cater to people who are diehard into video games. You don’t have to engage with the party games set up around the bar to enjoy your time here. But you might be tempted to pick up and try them when you see how much fun the other players are having.
Of course, when you are into video games, Barvatar has got you more than covered. There’s a ton of pc and consoles that run the most popular video games around. Want to come in for an hour to quickscope some friends into oblivion? No problemo! It doesn’t matter if you’re a new player testing the waters or a seasoned professional with a dedicated training routine: there’s a formula for everyone!
Located in the heart of of Ghent, there’s sure to be a lot of interested passer-by’s who want to check the place out. But the central location also makes Barvatar ideal to host a variety of video game related events for diverse audiences (link in Dutch). We’re especially looking forward to sessions where parents can learn about different aspects of video games and esports, as well as school programs where video games will be used to learn children different skill sets. By the way, wouldn’t you say this is an excellent place for a good old fashioned Belgian Games Cafe or hosting the release party of your new release? We sure think so!
You’ll have to contain that excitement for the time being though, as Barvatar is still under construction. The first building block was laid down in Minecraft at the start of June and the place should open its doors in the fall, but you can already follow them on Twitter or Instagram, or join the Discord. It’s an ambitious project that can only prove positive for video games in general and the #BelgianGamesIndustry in particular, so we’re very happy to welcome them into the FLEGA family.
