The lovely people at Mode4 are on the verge of exploding with happiness. They have every reason to, as tomorrow marks the launch of their debut game Bombslinger on Steam, Switch and Xbox One. Check out the release trailer and try not to get any shrapnel in your eyes.
Billed as a spaghetti western game with bombs, Bombslinger sees you taking revenge on old members of your gang by blowing the living Jesus out of them. The game wears its Bomberman inspiration clearly on its sleeve, but also takes cues from old school Zelda. Come to think of it, that Link dude didn’t shy away from the occasional explosion either.
You’ll get to explore a series of procedurally generated levels, which keep the experience fresh with every new playthrough, and pick up power-ups that you’ll desperately need to live through some tough boss fights. Emerge victorious and you will be dropped in the next level, where even harder foes will try to bring your fiery rampage to a halt. The Binding of Isaac fans might be recognising a pattern here and Bombslinger will definitely be up the alley of roguelite fans.
Look out for the game on April 11 (that’s tomorrow!) on Steam, Switch and Xbox One. A copy will run you less than the materials to make an actual bomb, and your chance of survival will be considerably higher. Congratulations to Mode4 on completing their first game and good luck with the launch!
