Our proud FLEGA member Triangle Factory releases their new commercial VR title Breachers today, April 13th. Breachers is a tactical 5vs5 VR First-Person Shooter with lifelike movement and realistic weapon spread. Players can prepare to work up a sweat as they climb, rappel, vault and shoot their way through amazingly detailed environments.
After donning the headset, you’ll either have to breach the defences as Enforcers, with a goal of eliminating the enemies and disarming their bombs, or set up traps as the Revolters, using doorblockers, tripmines and proximity sensors to defend their position. It’s a tried and true formula, but one that has never been executed successfully in VR, until now.
The developers themselves pitch Breachers as a mix of Counter-Strike and Rainbow Six Siege, but in VR, and it just so happens to perfectly fill the void that existed on virtual reality platforms. The players have been very vocal about their appreciation of the adrenaline-fuelled title, with already over 80 000 active members on their Discord well before the release date and even more gamers testing out the open Alpha.
Triangle Factory’s path to success
Their success isn’t based on luck, with the team at Triangle Factory building up tons of experience through their previous VR shooter titles, ranging from location-based experiences made for The Park Playground such as The Heist (original: De Dag), as well as their own commercial title: Hyper Dash, which went free-to-play and accumulated nearly a million installs.
Working on Hyper dash allowed them to collect player feedback and plan for their next big hit. Around 25 developers worked on Breachers for nearly 2 years, and their goal was clear: to become the best VR shooter! A vision shared by Meta, the makers of the market-leading Quest line of headsets.
Meta has a careful prediction of Breachers shaping up to be this year’s biggest success and is coming out of the woodwork with their marketing prowess locked and loaded.
Haha, VRry funny!
Triangle Factory has a track record with multiple successes to their name, which allowed them to grow to a team of over 40 talented Factory-workers strong. There is a running gag in Belgium of us being a VR-centric country and while it’s true Breachers has no plans of slowing down, with multiple updates in the pipeline, the team has also lifted the veil and shared that they are working on some commercial titles that will release on more traditional platforms. We’re very curious to discover more details on those soon!
Breachers is out now on Meta Quest, Steam VR and Pico XR.
