Devolver Digital, Annapurna Interactive or Raw Fury: a strong brand behind your project can take your game a long way. It’s one of the key reasons our long time member Crazy Monkey Studios decided to switch identities. After all those years of monkey business, the Geel based studio will henceforth operate as Rogueside.
While that means ditching 10 years of brand awareness as the co-developers of the succesful Guns, Gore & Cannoli series, it gives the studio an opportunity to refresh its image before hitting the market with a brand new lineup of titles. According to CEO Steven Verbeek the new name represents adventure and rebellion, and that’s what we can expect from the studio’s output going forward.
Hidden Through Time, the last game produced as Crazy Monkey Studios, already hinted at a departure from earlier work and the new name cements that change of direction. The game, developed in only 6 months and released simultaneously on 7 (!!) platforms, managed to break even in less than a month and the first DLC is doing great as well. Verbeek: “We might do a follow-up, but that project is currently in the freezer. We’ve got plenty of interesting stuff in the pipeline and the idea is to release one game per year over the next three years.”
To help realise those lofty ambitions, the team has hired three new developers. “Our vision is to keep growing steadily so we’re able to tackle bigger projects in the long run.” The studio is also continuing its strong social media presence so keep up with the latest Rogueside news on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
