We would like to introduce you to Fishing Cactus, the developer of the beautiful indie game Epistory (available on Steam Early Access since September 30) and the driving force behind WALGA, FLEGA’s counterpart in Wallonia. Epistory was shown to the public at GamesCom and Fishing Cactus was also present at our B2B booth in the business area of the convention.
Fishing Cactus (located in Mons) was founded in 2008 by four experienced AAA talents and rose from the ashes of 10Tacle (Totems, Urban Race). The versatility of the studio becomes immediately clear when you visit their website. It invites you to choose between two destinations: a more serious one or a destination that focuses solely on fun. The serious side of the landing page links you to the studio’s portfolio of Serious games, Advergames and gamification. They have been active in the field since 2010 with big projects for clients like Child Focus, Technobel, RTBF and many more.
Fishing Cactus’ experience in making entertainment games is even more impressive: the team (that consists of roughly 30 people) has released over 50 titles, mainly through digital distribution on platforms like iOS, Android, Web, PC, Mac and consoles. They release a lot of original IP’s, but have also performed work-for-hire for several top-tier publishers like Ubisoft, SEGA and Big Ben Interactive. Some of their most successful games include Paf Le Chien (best-selling iOS free app of 2011 in France), Shaun White and Trenches Generals.
