God has been many things to different people, but we’re pretty sure he’s never been defined as a cucumber. That all changes as we welcome God as a Cucumber in the proud FLEGA family today.
Behind the one-man indie studio is game designer Stijn Van Coillie. A product of the Digital Arts and Entertainment program, he started his game dev career at Monkube and then booted up his own company four years ago. He’s the main force behind God as a Cucumber, hiring freelance help for art and sound when needed.
His Monkube background certainly shines through in his current work. God as a Cucumber creates games with an arcade feel that are easy to play and hard to master. Quatros Origins, a puzzle game with a (literal) twist, certainly fits that bill and the same goes for his next project No Way Out, which has a gorgeous black and white comic book style to boot.
To help fund the development of his games he does freelance graphic design work. He also teaches game design at Howest. By sharing his expertise he hopes that more DAE graduates will make the leap and try to kickstart their own projects instead of flocking abroad to work at major studios. Now there’s a course of action we wholeheartedly support!
