Pajama Llama Games is a promising independent Belgian game developer based in Ghent. Having met each other at school (Howest), the studio was founded in 2015 by the talented threesome Stan Loiseaux (game design, concepting, 3D art), Dave Van Verdegem (all-round artist & coder) and Juda-Ben Gordier (concept & character artist).
After making several prototypes The team is now working fulltime on Flotsam, their first long-term project. Even though the project is still in the early stages of development, it already looks amazing thanks to its cel-shaded visual style (reminiscent of games like Borderlands and The Walking Dead). When it comes to gameplay, Flotsam mixes elements from the town building genre with survival tactics and drops the player into a treacherous flooded world (inspired by the 1995 Kevin Costner science fiction epic Waterworld).
In the game you manage a small group of drifters that try to survive in a world without land. Your drifters will have to salvage floating or sunken flotsam for resources to build all kinds of constructions. As if that isn’t hard enough already, they’ll also have to find inventive ways to get fresh, drinkable water and food. Other challenges include harsh weather and the constant threat of hungry sea animals. At its core, Flotsam is all about survival and letting your drifters cooperate so they can together withstand the dangers of their surroundings. If you want to learn more about the game and Pajama Llama as a studio, be sure to follow them on Twitter for regular updates on Flotsam, including loads of artwork, screenshots and other interesting titbits.
