Music is crucial to the player experience. Without their iconic themes, legendary game series such as Final Fantasy or The Legend of Zelda would be a lot less immortal. But even when you don’t have a symphonic orchestra at your disposal, your game deserves some nice tunes to support story and gameplay.
Creating tailor made music is exactly what Earbug, one of the newest additions to the ever expanding FLEGA family, is all about. Behind the project are talented Antwerp based musicians Stijn Cole and Tom Pintens. The two have played and toured extensively in many different Belgian bands such as Gorki, Moondog Jr. and Zita Swoon and also have their own (instrumental) musical projects.
When they’re not on the road, they compose for film, tv series and advertising. Most notably, they wrote the music of Belgian tv series Gent West and provided tunes for big brands like IKEA and Royco. Check out more of their instrumental work on Soundcloud.
Cole in particular, who you might know as the Piano Man from Dutch panel show Scheire en De Schepping (for which he also composed the music), has a life long passion for video games and wants to expand in this direction.
So if your game is in need of some musical direction, or you just want to throw around some soundtrack ideas, don’t hesitate to reach out. When they’re not playing a stage near you, you might even see them pop up at one of our events in the future.
Oh, and do yourself a favour and don’t Google images for earbug. Ever.
