Games have been around for a long time and have seriously evolved throughout the years. With the help of many institutions and people around us, we compiled a report about the Flemish games industry in Flanders. The report was officially presented this afternoon by our President Wim Wouters and here’s your chance to download and read it for free.
In this report we cover 4 main topics:
- the Flemish gamer
- the Flemish games industry
- the economic impact of our industry
- and the social impact
The report contains 17 pages with information, infographics and charts that give all sorts of insights in the current situation of our local games industry. Our report features figures about the amount of gamers, the owned and used platforms, game genre preferences, revenue and employment in our local industry, intellectual property, governmental funding and much more.
With this report we hope to crush some stereotypes and prejudice about the business as well as show active players that things are shaping up nicely for this industry. The amount of gamers is rising, the available funds are being put to good use and games are crossing over into educational and healthcare related business opportunities.
Nevertheless the economic climate in our region demands extra effort from our government. Think of tax incentives, public and private funding.
In general we can conclude that there is a positive evolution, albeit there is still much room for improvement.
