Oh, hi there! We hope you had a lovely summer. We woke from our own holiday slumber a little later than anticipated, but now we’re back to tell you all about what’s cooking in our local video games ecosystem.
Just in time as well! Next week doesn’t only mark the second version of an all-digital gamescom, but also the return of the EuroPlay Video Games Contest. Just like it’s musical sibling, it’s a celebration of upcoming talent, in which 13 European countries each present one game to defend their national colours.
This year’s Belgian entry is You Suck at Parking by our proud member Happy Volcano, who we hope can become an even bigger European sensation than that Ukranian band with the crazy feathers. Billed as the world’s most extreme parking game and probably the only racing game where the goal is to stop (eventually), it certainly has the quirks to pull off something like that. Voting opens here on Aug 26 at 7PM CET.
Quality and charm of the game aside, this competition is all about the popular vote. All games get their two minutes of fame during a livestream on Wednesday August 26 from 7 PM, after which the audience can vote for their favourite title. If we can rally the #BelgianGamesIndustry behind our friends, that would be a great start to winning this.
So be sure to tune in via Twitch or YouTube and vote like your life depends on it. If you’re the forgetful kind (we hear you), you can also sign up for the event on Eventbrite to get a timely reminder with links to the livestreams.
Let’s try and make Europe remember Belgium not only for their beer, chocolate, and awful roads, but also for their extremely sucky parking. We know you have it in you!
