The Divinity: Original Sin 2 Kickstarter campaign went live on August 26. In just six hours the sequel raised as much money as D:OS in 12 days time. The counter hit 660K in 24 hours and the first stretch goal was reached only a few hours later. On August 29, three days after launch, the funding surpassed that of D:OS. Swen Vincke, the CEO of Larian, tweeted jokingly that they were going to need one hell of a cake to celebrate.
The $1.000.000,00 milestone (= 200% funding) was reached on August 31. All this happened while part of the team (including Swen, who apparently has no trouble surviving on just a few hours of sleep a week) was showcasing an early version of D:OS 2 at the PAX Prime convention in Seattle. The demo was showered with praise by visitors, influencers and fellow developers. Suffice to say it has been an amazing week for Larian Studios, which has proven once again that it’s one of the topĀ RPG-developers in the world. If you haven’t already, support D:OS 2 on Kickstarter now.
