Calling all Flemish, Brussels and Dutch developers that want to expand their creative output and try their hand at another discipline. The cross-over pitch that’s being organised during Theater aan Zee 2019 (link in Dutch) might be just what you’re looking for.
Eight film makers, game developers, novelists, play writers, illustrators and journalists that have a creative idea outside of their comfort zone are invited to pitch to a professional multidisciplinary jury. If you’re able to convince them your dream is worth exploring, you’ll get the chance to further flesh out your idea with the help of professional coaching in 2020.
Talking about coaches: you won’t have to take the stage unprepared as three capable pitching experts (actor Michael De Cock, writer Niels ‘t Hooft and producer Esther van Driesum) will make sure you’re at the top of your game during your grand moment before the jury.
If this sounds up your alley, make sure to get your application in before June 16. You can write down a synopsis of your idea (1300 words max) or put together a video (max. 2 min) to convince the organisation you’re made out of the right material to pitch your idea on stage.
If you decide to participate in the cross-over pitch, you’ll have to be available between July 31 and August 2. That’s when selected participants will work on their pitch with the coaches in Ostend during TAZ#2019. To top it all off, accommodation and catering are covered and you’ll get the chance to attend a cross-over master class by Michael De Cock, Ish Ait Hamou, Hans van Nuffel and Simon(e) van Saarloos.
Always wanted to break out of your gamedev bubble but didn’t have the first idea how? Here’s your answer! More info and the full regulations of the competition here (link in Dutch).
The cross-over pitch is an initiative by TAZ, deAuteurs, VAF/Filmfonds and VAF/Gamefonds, supported by Vlaams Fonds voor de Letteren, Nederlands Filmfonds, Lira, deBuren, Sabam en Flow.
