Exciting times at proud FLEGA member and sponsor LuGus Studios. The team behind drone racing simulator Liftoff has recently announced a huge partnership with Freedom Drone Sports. If you’re like us and don’t know the first thing about real life drone racing, this may not look like a big deal. But when we tell you Freedom Drone Sports is like the Formula 1 of drone racing, you better believe this is huge news!
The partnership will bring the Freedom Class and Freedom500 Series drones to life in a simulated video game environment for the very first time. According to the team this has been a challenge they have wanted to tackle ever since they saw footage of a Freedom Class Drone taking to the skies.
Both partners also see possible applications in training and licensing of pilots, track preparation, design and simulation of technical and design changes to the drones themselves. As drone racing is the perfect opportunity to bring eSports and real life racing together, they hope the partnership can result in a future where virtual drones can race alongside physical ones in real time.
