With a lot of people still confined to their homes, game sales are through the roof. However, behind the scenes problems are brewing. Production is slowed down, and for a lot of European developers business development has come to a crawl. In response to this, the EGDF teamed up with rcp and Reboot to organise the European Games Bizdev Gathering, an online event for European developers to meet publishers and investors from around the globe.
Taking place on May 13 and May 14, the two day online event gives your studio a unique opportunity to pitch your game to some of the biggest names in publishing. Using MeetToMatch as a platform for pitching and videocall meetings, this is your chance to meet with both treasured indie publishers/investors like Kowloon Nights, Modus Games, and Raw Fury, and get your games in front of powerhouses like Microsoft, PlayStation, Ubisoft, Private Division, and many, many more.
Please be advised that this event is only for European game developers and international publishers and investors. Service providers for instance are not allowed to participate.
With the focus on supporting European developers, registration for the event is a symbolic €45. Again: this is a portal to the world’s most renowned publishers and investors that’s only open to European developers. No need to hesitate: sign up now!
On top of this, VAF Gamefund supports this event and pays back your participation fee! Mail your fee invoice and short motivation (before event) or short report (after event) to Youri Loedts to qualify for payback. Conditions apply (max 20 persons, max 1 fee per company).
Contradictory as it may sound, this is an excellent time to pitch your project to investors and publishers. Working from home, the talent scouts of these companies have an open schedule, and need content to keep fuelling their lineup, during the crisis and beyond. You can also try and get your game on the Steam front page through a digital festival like LudoNarraCon (taking place this weekend) or Digital Dragons Indie Celebration on Steam (registration deadline April 26). As usual you can find all updates on every online event and initiative on our event calendar.
If you only attend one online event in the coming months, the European Games Bizdev Gathering guarantees you the most bang for your buck. At the time of writing the only two Belgian studios that have signed up are our proud members Happy Volcano and Sakari Games, so we hope many more local developers follow that example. Get to it!
