December usually is a slow month for the games industry. Most games are out, people are drafting their Christmas lists and the calendar slowly crawls towards the end of the year. No time for holiday drowsiness at proud FLEGA member Next Apps though, as they’re gearing up to release their new mobile puzzle game Sevn on iOS tomorrow.
After the succes of their previous game Colorcube, it’s not exactly surprising they decided to use a similar approach for their next game. Once again, the game was co-designed with award winning board game designer Dieter Stein and Sean Dhondt’s Manoeuvres created an original ambient soundtrack for the game.
While also sharing a similar visual aesthetic and the same minimal design philosophy, the game itself is completely different. Color will play an important role but this you won’t be playing on your own this time. Sevn is a competitive game for two players in which they take turns breaking down one or more colored towers from the game board. To win, you need to get most out of seven colors or manage to get all seven towers of one color.
These two possible strategies require you to keep close attention to what your opponent is planning and offers deep and interesting gameplay. You can hone your tower collecting skills against bots of varying skill levels before taking on opponents from around the world.
With the inclusion of online multiplayer and the free to play business model, Sevn is well equipped to create an even bigger splash on the App Store. We’re certainly looking forward to play a couple of rounds and want to wish everyone on the team best of luck with the release.
