If your New Year’s resolution consists of sleeping less and drinking loads of coffee, we’ve got just the event for you! From January 25-27, Global Game Jam Antwerp will return to its faithful location at Het Bos. Next year marks the 10th anniversary of this great event so if you always wanted to join, now’s as good a time as any.
Global Game Jam is a world wide event where you group with a bunch of beautiful strangers to create a digital or physical game in 48 hours, based around a secret theme that’s announced at the beginning of the event.
To make the event even more inclusive, the organisation is offering two types of tickets. Next to the all-in € 20 ticket which guarantees you a place in the jam, meals and a seperate sleeping room to put your (air) mattress, you can also opt for a volunteer ticket. Volunteers sign up for one of four tasks (set up the event / break down the event /prepare breakfast + dishes / prepare lunch + dishes) and in return only have to pay € 6,5. Grab your tickets here!
Jammers have to pack nothing but their gamedev weapon of choice, enough power bricks and network cables, a sleeping bag and air mattress to get some well deserved shut-eye. There are no showers on site, so please do yourself (and everyone else) a favour and make sure you arrive as clean as a freshly wiped baby bottom.
Global Game Jam Antwerp welcomes all kind of creative profiles so don’t be shy if you’ve never made a game before. Jams are a great way to forge creative partnerships, learn the tricks of the game development trade and quickly come up with ideas and implement them in a game project. A lot of Belgian game developers took their first steps during a game jam, so maybe you’re next in line? Get in on the action, before the venue is fully booked!
