Newzoo and Overwolf have been recording the movement of the top 20 core PC games in both the US and Europe since April 2014. These rankings are a nice way to keep track of which titles are on the rise, and which are in decline.
The data is collected via Overwolf’s in-game apps and is collected from over millions of gamers. For the last few months League of Legends has been fending off everybody else and remains the #1 title for months in a row. Remarkable is that publisher Valve has 4 of the 20 titles on its name. Blizzard also has 3 titles to its name, but is not doing so great on first sight.
Blizzard fell back a few places with World of Warcraft, Diablo III and Hearthstone. Even though Diablo III falls back month-upon-month, Hearthstone was able to jump back up 4 spots in July, putting it in 9th place.
Battlefield from EA also lost a lot of ground (10 spots so far) as it has nog longer been available for free.
