Few full body workouts are as efficient as indoor rowing. Unfortunately, indoor rowing exercise isn’t very thrilling. Tied with sitting in a bath tub without water and rated just above watching paint dry, the level of entertainment isn’t exactly in sync with the effort you’re putting in. Seems like Salty Lemon Entertainment, part of our proud member DAE Studios, has their work cut out for them!
Working with the Vlaamse Roeiliga (link in Dutch), the Kortrijk based studio is developing EXR, an exergame that wants to inject fun into indoor rowing to make it easier to stick to your training schedule. Currently in beta for Windows, interested rowers can hook up their equipment to the game to get live feedback on their workout. There’s plenty of data to analyse and share with fellow row buddies, but the real joy is the feeling of shooting forwards through the water with every pull.
There will be more features added over the coming months, such as mini games to compete with friends, character customisation, and support for iOS and Android devices, but the developers would love to get feedback on what they have created so far. You can download the game and join the closed beta to share your thoughts. Alternatively, there’s also a Facebook community where you can share your experience with other users.
