Are you a game developer based in Belgium? Did you release a game this year? Do you feel confident about it? Confident enough to win a trophy for it and bask in your own glory while hundreds of thousands* of people chant your name? Great!
Well then, please direct your gaze to this website and submit your game!
That’s right! Submissions for the BelgianGameAwards19 are now officially open until October 31st midnight.. If you’re eligible to enter the contest you can now submit your game in a number of categories, including Best PC/Console, Best Mobile/Handheld, Best VR/AR/MR, Best Non Entertainment, Best Narrative, Best Game Design, Best Art Direction, Best Audio, Best Business and Most Promising. The BelgianGameAwards19 will be taking place on February 15th 2019 during 1UP Conference.

Larian Studios winning at the previous BelgianGameAwards in 2016. Look at how happy they were!
There’s also Best Student but that one is exclusive to the winners of the VAF Wildcards (link in Dutch). You can submit your game in as many categories as you’d like, but please keep in mind that the organisation can refrain from awarding a category if there’s not enough contestants. Make sure to squeeze your entry in before October 31st.
Each submission will be charged a €25 (ex VAT) fee but if you get nominated you’ll receive 5 tickets for the award show (worth €125 ex VAT) and you will be able to showcase your nominated game(s) at a free fully equipped 1UP Expo booth (worth €399 ex VAT) prior to the award show (the 1UP Expo being open to anyone with an Expo or Conference ticket). Not nominated? Your €25 submission fee will be converted into a free ticket to attend the award show.
Nominees need to be present at the award ceremony that’s taking place on February 15th 2019 during 1UP Conference. The show will be hosted by comedian and game enthusiast William Boeva so expect plenty of laughs inbetween the anxiety of not knowing whether you’re going home with an award or not. Boeva will also be one of the judges that will play the games and ultimately decide who gets the trophy. The rest of the jury will be announced in the coming months but rest assured: each of them are experts in a specific field of the industry.
There’s still plenty of surprises in store and we will unveil more info about either BelgianGameAwards19 and 1UP Conference in the coming weeks and months. The most important thing you need to do right now is check out the official site and submit your game before October 31st midnight. Good luck!
This celebration of #BelgianGamesIndustry success wouldn’t be possible without the valued support of 1UP Conference, Cronos Interactive, VAF Gamefund, Flanders DC, WALGA (powered by ADN) and screenbrussels (powered by BIE).
