Earlier this week, the highly anticipated new Ketnet series Buck (link in Dutch) premiered. In the show, a struggling teenager finds refuge from the real world by playing his favourite video game, starring space captain Buck. Until one day, Buck shows up on his doorstep and he has to teach his digital hero everything about real life.
To further engage the audience in the world of Buck, proud FLEGA member Cyborn created Buck: The Game, a cool mobile puzzle platformer to accompany the series.

With Buck away, there’s need for new cadets to be trained at the Orion academy. Players create their own 3D avatar and team up with Jim and the drone C2PE – let’s hope George Lucas doesn’t catch wind of this – to discover the secrets of the planet and thwart the plans of General Lankey and his Carpians. To do this, players will have to navigate 3D environments, solve challenging puzzles and outsmart their enemies. Buck is certified brains over brawn!
Another cool feature of Buck: The Game is its AR mode. With a printable marker you can bring the world of the game to life in your own house. It’s not just very cool, it’s also a great way to make new technologies accessible to a young audience.

Buck: The Game is another great example of a transmedia production done right. The game serves as an excellent extension of the series and gives creators the chance to further flesh out the universe. The high production quality of the game also makes sure players of the game get interested in the tv series and vice versa. Like previous success stories have proven, crossmedia productions are a win win for everyone.
Buck: The Game is available for free for smartphone and tablets on iOS and Android. The series airs from Monday through Thursday around 5.30 PM on Ketnet and can also be found online or on the Ketnet app.
