Fresh from showing the Enhanced Edition of Divinity: Original Sin at Gamescom, Larian Studios made a surprise announcement of the sequel Divinity: Original Sin 2 yesterday. According to the post on Larian Studios’ website, this is going to be the most ambitious RPG they have ever made: bigger, better and more engaging than its successful predecessor.
But they won’t be going at it alone. By heavily involving the fans and the community in making the first game, the team was able to make a game that was better than they had planned, mainly because the feedback of the fans took them in unexpected directions. They valued the input so much in fact, that they have decided to repeat the process. As from August 26 Divinity: Original Sin 2 will come to Kickstarter, to ask the support and guidance of its fans once more.
Some things will be handled differently however. You won’t have to wait until the Kickstarter campaign starts. You can head over to the Divinity: Original Sin 2 page right now to have your say about which rewards you want to see for pledging when the campaign goes live. But there is more: if you are planning to go to PAX Prime at the end of August, you will be able to go hands on with a playable prototype and try out some of the fantastic new features the game has on offer.
