Congrats to Larian Studios and its CEO Swen Vincke! They received a major, Flemish cultural award for their chart topping game Divinity: Original Sin. Flemish Minister of Culture Sven Gatz handed over the award to Swen Vincke at a formal ceremony on Monday March 30. The award comes with €12.500 prize money.
Minister Sven Gatz: “Swen Vincke has proved that Flemish game developers have the ability and the potential to compete with international competitors and thus reap international success. Divinity: Original Sin will be a driver for the Flemish games industry as a whole.”
The success story that is Divinity: Original Sin went on to sell more than 1 million copies. During the summer months of 2014 the game topped the digital Steam pc charts for several weeks. A physical release of the game made the shelves of major US retailers such as Walmart just in time for the 2014 holiday season. In January 2015 Gamespot crowned the game as Best 2014 RPG.
