Attention all game studios who are looking for additional funding for their projects. VAF/GAME has two upcoming submission deadlines in June, so let’s whip out those pens and get those applications ready.
First off, it’s business as usual for the periodic VAF/GAME call. The next submission deadline for preproduction, production, and marketing support for both entertainment, artistic, serious, and educational games is June 23. Don’t forget that succesful applications will receive 5% of their grant immediately after approval. Studios also get an extended two years to file a technical report, making this an excellent opportunity to get a head start on your next project. These extra support measures might also indicate that the amount of submissions will increase, so as usual, make sure to bring your A game.
Secondly, in an effort to help out creators who are temporarily out of a job, VAF has created a one-time project call for innovative storytellers (link in Dutch). Selected participants will receive a participation fee of € 7.500 and professional one-on-one coaching (with up to three different coaches) to flesh out their idea in order to apply for a future VAF/GAME or InnovatieLab call.
The organisation is looking for creatives who’d like to stray from well-trodden creative paths or are in need of specific guidance to materialise their vision. If you have an idea for an innovative project involving either AR, VR, video games, interactive fiction, or a web series, you can apply until June 11. The application process is significantly lighter than a regular support call, but make sure to check out the rules over here (link in Dutch).
As a general reminder: VAF/GAME made changes to their support directives and guidelines (link in Dutch), providing our local studios more time and flexibility until the end of this year. They are also polling financial and economic impact on our sector. Please do contact them if you encounter difficulties and could use support from them.
