29/11/2018Preparations for the third Mission San Francisco in as many years are well underway. Once again, the goal is to get as many of our game developers to shine at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, taking place next year from March 18 until March 22. There’s the first ever Flemish booth to look forward to, but even when your main goal is the conference, there’s plenty of ways to optimise and spice up your visit.
Still on the fence about joining us this year? Here’s three incentives to tide you over!
1) 50% discount on conference tickets
Flemish and Brussels game devs can get a 10% group discount* on the early bird tickets of your choice (Expo Plus and Expo passes are not eligible for this discount). You can sign up for this offer here until January 25.
But wait, didn’t you say 50%? That’s right, you can submit a request with VAF Gamefund through MyVAF for additional funding up to 40% of your conference tickets (limited to 10 first eligible submissions). Please note that your request needs to be approved BEFORE the event and that you will be paid AFTER. Deadline is January 25.
Also keep in mind that Flanders Investment & Trade can offer you a refund for 50% of your travel and accommodation costs. Please make sure to fill out the necessary paperwork (link in Dutch) IN ADVANCE to do so.
2) FLEXZONE: free shared booth space for non-exhibiting companies
We’ll have a small zone at the Flemish expo booth where non-exhibiting companies can quickly do their thing. Have a quick meeting, show a quick demo, quickly pitch an idea. If you can do it fast, we can make it happen. Combined with discounted conference tickets, this is without a doubt the cheapest way to have a presence at the GDC Expo. We’ll set up a schedule (first come, first served!) for this, so get in touch if you’re interested!
3) Attend Courage XL premixer
Courage XL premixer, taking place on March 17, has become the hottest premixer south of the Golden Gate Bridge and an ideal moment to showcase your game. Flemish companies get a discount (€ 75 instead of € 105 (excl. costs)) and since our partners know we make damn fine games there’ll be no curation.
For that price you’ll get a reserved showcase spot in one of the hottest GDC venues and drink vouchers to offer to people who played your game. Please apply here for automatic applications and afterwards please pay through Eventbrite, using the password “iamcourageous” and the discount code “ilovebelgianbeer”. Deadline is January 25.
