The FLEGA General Assembly of 2015 was held last week in The Level, Kortrijk (thank you for the warm welcome!). The event included a guided tour of The Level game incubator (see photo) and the annual account and budget votings by our members, but it also gave us a chance to look back on the things we accomplished in 2014/2015 and to tell you about future plans.
Thank you so much to our members and our followers for all their financial and community support, thank you to our board for all their voluntary work and effort!
From the positive feedback we receive, we know you appreciate our website. We are happy to announce that a new, cleaner look & feel is coming up in June/July. The improved website will feature extensive search and filter options, ample directory features and the possibility to subscribe to our event and project call agenda. A premium zone with an information vault and job offers is also in the works.
As always we’ll be listening to your input via online surveys and informal talks at our FLEGA Cafe events and other meetings. From previous encounters we know lobbying is of the utmost importance so we are having intensive talks with the government about a better economic environment for the gaming business. We are lobbying hard for tax shelter/breaks, lower wage costs and more subsidies. To get our voices heard more loudly, we are joining forces with WALGA, our colleagues in Wallonia. Next step? The launch of a Belgian federal games association in September!
Simultaneously we are doing a lot of sharing & promoting. We will provide shared booths at low rates at Gameforce and FACTS 2015. We are very active on Twitter (follow us if you haven’t already!) and issue press releases, resulting in a considerable amount of coverage. Outside of Belgium we will be present at GamesCom 2015 in August where we will have a shared booth in association with Startups.be and the 3 Belgian regions.
There is a lot more to tell you, so we uploaded our General Assembly presentation to the DOWNLOADS area of our website. You can also download the presentation via this direct link.
