The House of Indie and Designcenter De Winkelhaak are organizing the second edition of Free to Play, the annual artistic indie game festival. Free To Play 2014, running from May 17 until June 15, will be a month-long celebration of independent games and the spirit of independent development.
On Saturday May 17 Free to Play starts off with a day of talks by a selection of international indie greats, featuring amongst others Rami Ismail (Vlambeer), Auriea Harvey (Tale of Tales) and Leigh Alexander (Gamasutra, Edge). This will be followed by the grand opening of the month-long, permanent expo featuring both virtual and physical games, installations, artwork, cosplay, VR demos and much more.
For its closing event on Saturday June 14, Free to Play is inviting both national and international developers from The Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium to join and bring whatever game(s) they’re working on for a big, creative, free-for-all cross-pollination of networking opportunity and play testing. Friends, family and complete unknowns are more than welcome to join in on the games, because at the end of the night there’ll be performances and a big chiptune party.
In between these two dates you’re welcome to join a game design workshop and a night of indie documentary screenings. All events are free, pre-registration is sometimes required.
