Running a game development studio is costly, but expanding a business requires even more capital. It’s never easy to find investors who want to stall their money in a creative venture like a game studio, so we’re very happy to report that proud FLEGA member Cybernetic Walrus has secured another round of funding worth € 500.000.
The money will be partly used to further development on their next big game production Rise of Humanity. The strategic deck builder is currently in pre-production and is expected to hit the market in early 2021. Learning from the release of their previous game Antgraviator, the studio will also use the funds to expand the team and grow its B2B division.
Half the sum is courtesy of Media Invest Vlaanderen, the joint venture of investment company PMV and broadcaster VRT to support promising Flemish media and technology businesses. After investing in FLEGA family member Cyborn earlier this year, the interest in supporting companies working in game development seems to be steadily on the rise. The next pitch day (link in Dutch) at Media Invest Vlaanderen takes place October 14, so whip out that business plan and take your shot!
