Due to popular demand, it’s here: Graphine’s Granite SDK Unity plugin. Graphine, a Flemish middleware provider operating from Gent, offers HD texture streaming and compression solutions that are unique in the graphical landscape.
By deeply integrating the Granite SDK into the Unity pipeline, both advanced texture streaming, as well as virtual texturing, are now only a few clicks away. All the Granite SDK’s texture atlasing, texture compression and texture streaming benefits can now be enjoyed directly from within the Unity UI. That’s a reduction in compressed file sizes of up to 60% and a reduction in memory requirements of up to 75%.
On top of that, all texture assets are effortlessly imported and compressed for texture streaming. Your workflow will not be affected. Just select the materials that you want the system to stream and Graphine’s plugin will take care of the rest.
Graphine is working on a demo, aimed at showcasing the plugin and the new features that have been added in the Granite SDK 2.2 version, recently released. Keep an eye on Graphine’s blog, because they’ll be sharing more information. If you want to see the Unity plugin in action for yourself, come by Graphine’s booth at GDC (booth242).
